As the name suggests, the Pocket NC can be used to machine small (sub 3-4" diameter) metal items like coins, jewelry, and miniature figurines. Due to the large amount of torque available from the 1HP spindle, it is also effective at machining non-metals like wood and plastics. An ideal project dataset in DXF or STL file format could be a small figurine that is less than 1" in length and width, less than a few ten-thousandths of an inch in thickness/height and not too complex. A wide variety of small metal coins and medals should also be compatible w/ the Pocket NC.
Note that milled precision and detail will be dictated in large part by the geometry of the item needing to be machined. Items that consist of a series of fine details or require extremely tight tolerances may not be ideal, however the material holds true to all the turning, milling, and routing work.

Note that the above list is a starting point and ultimately each part has to be tested on your own.
In short, all you need to get started are the following two items: 1) basic cutting tools and 2) a computer that meets the minimum requirements. Of course there are various other items you will likely want to add over time, but these basic items are all that is required. Here are further details for each:
Cutting tools: The Pocket NC comes with three endmills included with the machine: 1/8" 3 flute end mill, 1/8" flat 4 flute end mill, 1.0mm 3 flute end mill. Both endmills are designed to handle Stainless Steel milling. It is recommended thatcutters while machine come with a standard coating to protect the steel of the cutter, but no coating will last forever and milling steels alone will damage tools rapidly. Milling aluminum or active metals (Stellite, Titanium, etc) will not damage tools nearly as rapidly, though.
Besides various internal components, these three endmills are the only dirt simple "accessories" that come with your Pocket NC. Everything else is for more advanced milling projects (dry-running ballnose endmills, indexable countersinks, etc.) and can wait. Early experiments with the machine will be based on trying various types of materials, clearing out excess material, and so on. The following steps describe the steps for simple milling projects:
