IV was founded in 2000 by current CEO Nathan Myhrvold and President Edward Jung.IV has a portfolio of over 40,000 patents and patent applications worldwide. These patents cover a wide range of industries and technologies, from life sciences to transportation.
IV has a team of over 1,000 people, including inventors, engineers, scientists, attorneys and business professionals. IV has offices in Bellevue, WA, Palo Alto, CA, San Francisco, CA, Boston, MA, New York, NY, London, UK, and Munich, Germany.
In the past, IV has been criticized for its litigation tactics. However, IV's focus is on licensing and commercializing its inventions, not on litigation. IV has licensed its inventions to over 500 companies worldwide, including many of the world's largest companies.
