Avoiding Scams

Trusting your invention with a company is a lot like trusting your child with a new babysitter: you never really know if the company, or new sitter, really has your best interest at mind. However, when it comes to invention companies, there are several warning signs that can help you to avoid scams.

If any company tries to guarantee that your invention will make you rich, run; no one can promise you that your invention will be successful. The most any development company can offer is their support and expertise in order to give you the best chance of having a successful patent.

Just like choosing a babysitter, you always want to have references when choosing a product development company. If you happen to run into one that avoids providing you with a portfolio, test cases or references from previous clients, they are likely hiding something.

In today’s business world, email is one of the most common forms of communication, especially when working with an overseas company. However, every legitimate company has an address and phone number. If you are in talks with a business that either does not have or is not willing to provide you with this information, look elsewhere.

Oftentimes, scam invention companies place a high emphasis on making money quickly and easily, despite the fact that inventing, developing and patenting a product is far from quick or easy, even when working with the most experienced company. If anyone tries to convince you that this process involves little work, they do not know what they are doing or they are lying to you.
